In Pluralism

The 2007 conference of the International Confederation for Pluralism in Economics, held in Salt Lake City, Utah from June 1-3, was a further watershed in the evolution of pluralist economics, extending well beyond mere ‘pure’ economics to what was, in essence, Political Economy – the relation between society, its classes and nations, with the capitalist commodity economy in its contemporary form.

In this post I include the conference programme which indicates the breadth and depth of the contributions. My own presentation on ‘the modernity of backwardness’ includes the call which Radhika Desai and I made, arising from the HM conference of 2006, for contributions to a panel at the forthcoming AHE conference. Shortly after this we held discussions with publishers and decided to launch, with Pluto Books, the Future of World Capitalism book series, including, in 2012, Desai’s Geopolitical Economy.
