‘On the Rehabilitation of Communism’. Text submitted to the Joint conference on Neotraditionalism and Archaisation of Political Space in the Center and Periphery of the World-System: Causes and Consequences, Moscow May 25-26th 2016. Includes the programme, and two texts. I set out, to some extent, to challenge the narrative of the conference which tended to see the main threat to humanity in terms of ‘outdated’ or ‘neo-archaic’ ideas such as fascism. I argue that on the one hand these reactionary ideas are resurfacing precisely because of the very modern phenomenon of the decay of the imperialist order, and on the other, that the ‘archaic’ concept of communism remains more relevant to the future of humanity than all of imperialist ‘modernity’
