Though the date of this post is given as 4 May, it contains three articles written between 4th and 22 May, in response to the rapidly evolving situation as the pandemic began, and a video of a discussion organised by the Valdai Club. The first ‘How many need die?’, was circulated informally but never published. The ideas were presented in a forum organised by the Valdai Club in which Karl Friston of the UK’s Independent SAGE group took part, which can be viewed as a video. My presentation was published on my Academia site. A new but shorter version was then published by the Valdai Club. Finally, I produced a paper directed at the disastrous ‘Herd Immunity’ strategy of the UK’s Johnson government, which has likewise not been published until now.
